My top five strengths (in order) are:
- Strategic
- Developer
- Empathy
- Communication
- Competitive
I took the Clifton Strengths test a couple years ago, and my results were:
- Communication
- Includer
- Positivity
- Developer
- Empathy
Although I had taken the test before, I am in a different place in my life now than I was and was curious if my results would change, so I decided to retake it. Three of my five results were the same as before–developer, empathy, and communication. However, strategic and competitive were added this time. Before, my results were all relationship-based except for my top strength, communication which is under the influencing section. This time, I had another strength, competition, which is also under influencing, as well as strategic under the strategic thinking section. Before, when I took the test, it surprised me a little bit that all of my strengths were under the relationship building section. None of the strengths on their own surprised me; they are all very relevant in my life. However, I was mildly surprised that they weren’t a little more spread out across the sections. Looking back now, I’m not as surprised about my past results nor am I surprised at what they are now. I know that no one is limited to their top five strengths; there are several we all possess that weave in and out in prominence over time, and in my case, it is interesting to see how that changed.
For me, my strengths highlight the fact that I enjoy working with and helping others, that communication is so very important to me, and that right now especially, my focus is strategic to meet goals. Also, competition with myself more-so than anything is motivating, and I’m inspired by others’ hard work daily.
As far at this class goes, my strengths, strategy and developer, will be helpful in building my client’s social media presence. I enjoy working with others and helping them grow, and the process of planning is exciting to me.
In my career and future, I can play to my strengths to build strong business connections and network.
