Reflection #3

This week, I would say I learned more from actually playing around with Hootsuite than I did in the videos. I would say that the videos were informative, but they were as described, introductory. I am excited to learn more about the schedule postings (how often should I be posting,etc..).

The client I chose is actually my own business! No need to ask permission to post, haha. I am very happy that I am able to apply what I’m learning immediately. It’s the entire reason I’m taking this class. I am also interested in possibly connecting my boyfriend’s family’s business social media on there. I really want to broaden the audiences of both businesses, as well as improving interactions with costumers, and getting a consistent posting schedule.

Strengths, Reflection #2

My strengths are

  1. Competition

2. Activator

3. Intellection

4. Input

5. Communication

I am a very competitive person in my day-to-day life. I want to be the winner and I believe that I always can be. However, I am also a procrastinator, so academically I can struggle with starting my schoolwork, especially in an online class. I believe that if I am able to become more competitive and an a self-“activator”, I will really succeed in this class.

I know that all 5 of my strengths are why I have been successful in my career. I want to succeed and I know how to get there. I use my communication skills to reach out to people and offer my services. I use my input skills during consultations with clients to help them better visualize what we can achieve together.

Reflection #1

Hello!

This is my fourth year of college. I originally was going to Baker University to study Music Education and Vocal Perfomance. My plan was to become a high school choral director. Once I realized how much I loathed teaching others, I decided I needed to leave Baker and go to JCCC to take some time to figure out what I wanted to do.

In my first semester I needed one more credit hour to be a full-time student. I found an “Intro to Floral Design” class that was only credit hour. I figured, I’ve always like flowers and gardening, so it seems like something I would enjoy, so I enrolled in the class. After the first day of class, I knew that this was what I want to do with my life. I have been taking the classes over the course of 2 1/2 years and I am now in my last class for the the floral design program. I have had a lot of success in the floral industry so far and I’ve started my own business. That is the reason I am taking this class. Social media has been the most successful marketing tool for me so far, and I want to take it to the next level. I hope to learn how to draw more attention to my posts, how to make my pages/posts as relevant as possible, and how to use social media most efficiently.

My boyfriends family also own a small, local business and I am hoping to help them with their social media presence as well!
