Evidence for the competency on Professionalism:

1) Kansas State Capitol Lobby day reflection paper.  

On January 24th, 2018. I had the opportunity to go to Kansas’s state capitol for lobby day for the support of the future of Dental Therapy. In Topeka, I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with legislators why Kansas needs dental therapy.

2) Mayo Clinic Movie Reflection Paper

In clinic III we watched a movie about the Mayo Clinic. This video was about the history of this world-famous clinic. This video pointed out serval ideas that shaped the health care field as we know today. After we watched the movie we had to write a reflection paper about what we thought and learned. This video made me even more passionate about this career choice I have made.

3) Continuing Education Class

I attended a continuing education course put on by the East Kansas Dental Hygiene Association. Two presentations were given during this conference on different aspects of dental hygiene. One  involved speech therapy, and the other spoke to us about the new periodontal guidelines that were going to be enforced starting in 2019.
