Reflection

Both of these pieces of evidence enhanced my communication with not only my patients but also with colleagues and other health care professionals. Health care is a team effort and it requires professional communication skills. By self-assessing, both of these exercises allowed me to improve my communication skills.

Not only is radiographic interpretation great education for my patient, but it’s a great exercise for me as a student. My instructor guided me on some areas that I did not think about bringing up to the patient and they helped me communicate with my patient in a way that they would understand. As I continued to review radiographs with patients, I have grown as a clinician by relating radiographs to clinical findings and making it apart of the bigger picture. This aids in patient understanding and allows me to create a treatment plan designed specifically for their needs.
