What is Enactus?
The JCCC Enacus club is a chapter of the national organization Enactus USA. The purpose of Enactus is to provide students the opportunity to develop the kind of talent and perspective that employers are seeking by planning and implementing projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Current JCCC Enactus Project Teams Las Pintas – Building on the JCCC Nursing Program which provides medical and social services to the community of Las Pintas, Mexico, JCCC Enactus is exploring how they can support the business community in that area. Two JCCC Enactus members are traveling to Mexico with the nursing program to help establish an ongoing business related program. Team members not traveling to Las Pintas help by connecting with Las Pintas through SKYPE and gathering supplies needed by the nursing program. Food Desert – JCCC Enactus received a grant from Unilever to work with a community in the KC metro area in which low-income residents face substantial obstacles in purchasing fresh and nutritional food (also known as a food desert). Enactus will partner with the JCCC Nutrition Club on this project. Please join us at our weekly Enactus meeting if you are interested in helping with either of the above projects or if there a project you’d like to see the JCCC Enactus team develop….something you have a passion for. Time and location for the general meeting is listed below. If you can’t attend at that time and are interested, contact Barbara Millard, faculty advisor at bmillard1@jccc.edu. Project teams do work outside the general meeting time….so you can still join. In addition to planning and implementing these projects, Enactus members have the opportunity to present their projects at competitions in St Louis in April. These competitions are sponsored by major corporations such as Walmart, Walgreens, Hallmark, Home Depot and Enterprise. Conferences and competitions give students the chance to interact with representatives of major corporations and make valuable business connections….jobs, internships, etc!!!! Meeting Details: Thursdays 12:30— 1:30 pm In Focus Dining Room (below the Food Court)
