In watching the Introductions to the top social platforms, I am more aware of how these apps can really help a business get exposure, find new customers and boost sales. They are able to see what is liked and shared, as well as what is being said about their business. It’s also a great tool for building relationships, responding and conversing with customers and potential customers. Being present on social platforms is much more beneficial as opposed to advertising in a magazine or on television.
I’ve never seen TikTok before, so now I’ve been introduced and I am familiar with all the main social media sites. I look forward to learning how to easily maintain all the sites.
The business I’m going to work with is Lotus Yoga & Wellness. They are located in Overland Park. I have a good friend that is an instructor there and she would like to see more posts on social media to boost interaction and business. Their Mission: Our Mission is to share the wisdom of yoga by opening our hearts, minds and souls in a space that is safe and nurturing. We do this through the spirit of healing, transformation, service, and love. Many of our teachers are experienced 500 RYT certified and deeply care about your practice.
In searching Google, I found their website come up first and all links on the first page of the search were for their website, their app or online classes (https://lotusyogakc.com, https://www.mindbodyonline.com/explore/locations/lotus-yoga-leawood-ks). The next page of results listed a Yelp entry and a LinkedIn page for the business owner, David Lloyd. I had to manually go to the main social media sites and search there to find any pages.
FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/lotusyogaandwellnessspa
I found a Facebook page for Lotus Yoga, although I had to go to Facebook and type in “Lotus Yoga Overland Park” to find our local one. I’m not sure, but this may be a franchise business.
Facebook has 2,420 followers. They post banners (premade art) with the schedule for the day. They do this often, but it’s not getting any likes or shares.
INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/lotusyogakc/
Lotus Yoga also has an Instagram page with the same banners as Facebook for posts. They have 693 followers.
TWITTER: https://twitter.com/LotusYogaKC
The twitter page hasn’t been used since August 2019. They have 209 followers.
YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCduwKdyMrbnOsDpljh_4y4w
They have 56 Subscribers, but haven’t posted any new content for almost a year. They seemed to get a handful of views when they did post.
LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-lloyd-995552167/
I don’t see a Lotus Yoga LinkedIn Page…just the business owner’s page.
Overall, I feel like their posts on Twitter are more personalized and informative, but it’s not currently being used, so I would recommend getting that going again. The Facebook/Instagram posts are consistent banner posts with the schedule listed, but that information could be easily found in a more permanent place. I definitely think Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube are great platforms for a yoga business because of the age demographics. I’m not sure if posting more would bring the yoga business social media sites into the search on Google, but I would like to see if I could increase their presence there and get more activity on their pages.
