Reflection 8

I think implementing a way to interact directly with the members of the club on social media will make Woodside more desirable because it shows a sense of community. This could be implemented by posting polls and interactive stories to Instagram. Or hosting giveaways that you can enter by promoting our social networking sites, this way we are getting free advertising and PR from members of the club who have a high standing in the Kansas City community. This will give Woodside a warm, personable, at-home community type feel. Woodside IS local and we want to market that. I think that i what our audience wants, a boujie wellness club that makes them feel pampered, while also giving them a unique sense of community. Most members of the club feel at home here because of the inviting and personable staff, so highlighting that online could also bring people in by showing them that Woodside is more than a membership. It is a community.

Reflection 7

I chose to profile LA Fitness. It is a health club in Los Angeles. I chose this because it is a health club like Woodside, but also because Woodside’s owner lives in LA and uses the West Coast to influence Woodside.

LA Fitness continues to increase its presence by focusing on the one lifelong benefit valued by everyone: good health.

Founded in Southern California in 1984, LA Fitness continues to seek innovative ways to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of our increasingly diverse membership base. Today, our state-of-the-art clubs span the continent, and we’re still expanding. Our strong and successful growth stems from our commitment to understanding and meeting the distinct needs of each community we serve. With our wide range of amenities and a highly trained staff, we provide fun and effective workout options to family members of all ages and interests.

It is successful because it provides amenities that are highly requested for a lower price.

To grow the community, they could do a better job advertising to a broader audience, with different types of culture and community.

Reflection 3

I selected Woodside, a health club in Kansas City. Woodside offers an abundance of amenities including, two different state-of-the-arc gyms, tennis courts, a restaurant and bar, personal training, over 80 fitness classes, a full-service spa, 3 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool with saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and a cold plunge. But Woodside is much more than its’ amenities, it is a thriving community with members from all walks of life who are brought together because they want to be better than before! Woodside is currently active on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. I believe, for the business they have, that these sites are going to be most effective to their clientele.

Reflection 2 Part 2

My online search consisted of my social media accounts: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, and multiple horrendous photos of me in high school. In regards to my personal brand, I am honestly not sure at all what I want that to look like. I am constantly evolving and changing in so many aspects of my life, that deciding on a brand for myself seems almost impossible.

Reflection 2 Part 1

My five strengths were empathy, adaptability, input, connectedness, and communication. To me, these strengths are vital for anyone who works in a team or with others. For this class in particular, adaptability, input and communication are key components to being successful. Being able to communicate openly and being willing to adapt to other’s ideas will be important for this class and any other. All of my strengths will play important roles on my future career path. They are all strengths that lie within working with others. Having empathy helps me understand how others are feeling so that I can decide the most appropriate way to respond to each situation. Connectedness allows me to have higher self-esteem, greater empathy for others, and be more trusting and cooperative.

Who is She?

Hello all, my name is Jessi Kirwin and I am 20 years old. This is my third year at JCCC and I will be receiving my Associate of Arts in the spring. I do not have much experience in marketing, my prior work experience is either in the restaurant industry or in the health industry. My last two jobs have been at gyms/health clubs. I am taking this course because it seems like something that will be necessary to know in the future, with how quickly our society progresses electronically day by day. I would like to learn more about marketing myself in the industry, advertising, and how social media reflects a business.
