Hootsuite Certificate

In the field of social media marketing, I found myself most drawn to content creation. I’ve long had an interest in graphic design and an eye for aesthetics. Combining this with commercial media production is exciting and enjoyable to me. I particularly enjoy a more organic, spontaneous style of content creation. Capturing moments as they happen then framing or editing them in a way that makes others feel like they participated is my favorite part of social media.

I also enjoy content strategy — deciding the right content for the right channel at the right time for the right people. Learning how to balance all these factors is as much art as it is science. I like to experiment with different posting times, frequencies, hashtags, and content types to find what works best and create a plan. The plan must constantly change and there will always be adjustments to make.

Here is a screenshot of my Hootsuite certificate:

While the Hootsuite training was not new information to me, it was a nice review. I didn’t know that LinkedIn offered an advertising platform as well, which could be useful for my future clients. As I mentioned last week, I also discovered a “direct-sales” method through Instagram that has been quite successful.

I don’t think that Hootsuite would be terribly helpful for Insincerely, at least at this stage of development. I am using one primary channel on which I am focusing all of my marketing efforts. However, for future clients, I can see the geo-locating feature being especially useful. For instance, I am considering doing some real consulting for London Motorworks. The ability to find and join in conversations about “mercedes,” “BMW,” and “Lexus” in Kansas City could go a long ways towards getting the clients he wants with minimal effort. Of course the ability to see and manage all channels and streams at once is also a fantastic organizational feature of Hootsuite.
