Intro
Hi,
I’m Abby Marsh and I am a sophomore at JCCC. I am a transfer from the University of Kansas and chose to spend my sophomore year of college here to save money and finish my general education classes at a JUCO.
I have recently changed my major from psychology to marketing because I have had more experience with marketing in two internships. The first marketing internship I did was for my mothers coworker at the Riordan Clinic in Wichita, KS. The Riordan Clinic is a non-profit organization which focuses on naturopathic medicine. Here, I worked for the Director of Marketing, mostly doing simple tasks and side jobs that Erin (my boss) could not get to because of her busy schedule. Some of the bigger tasks I did were to make spread sheets which listed different doctors from around the U.S that could be invited to the annual symposium the Riordan Clinic hosts. I also made goodie baskets for new employees at the new location in Shawnee. Other smaller projects I did was to go to our facebook page and reply to comments from locals, create other spreadsheets, and other normal office duties.
The second internship I had was this past summer of 2017, where I worked for a programming business called Sharp Edge. Here I spent the summer doing a lot of the same things I did for the other company I worked for. I helped create their LinkedIn account and did a lot of administrative office duties.
So, you can probably guess why I am taking this course. I would like to learn more about the way social media marketing works to get a better understanding of the marketing world. In this course I would like to learn the basics of marketing, what it takes to be in the marketing business, and the different kinds of marketing.
