Las Pintas Intro

Last year, the JCCC Enactus students began looking at how they can provide assistance to the JCCC nursing program’s project in Las Pintas, Mexico. The nursing program has led a health brigade to Las Pintas, Mexico each year for the last 18 years. During their week in Las Pintas, nursing students, faculty and alumni provide health services and education in this underserved community. In Spring 2015, the Enactus faculty advisor and two students joined the brigade with the intent of assessing what Enactus could do to provide assistance and guidance in an way that might lead to more economic sustainability.

Two students and the faculty advisor will accompany the nursing program again in Spring 2016. Prior to going to Las Pintas, those students will provide assistance to the nursing students gathering supplies and fundraising as well as continue to explore ways to help the economic development of Las Pintas.  While in Las Pintas, the main focus of the team will be economic development.

Don’t let the words economic development scare you…basically, it means help them find ways to create income opportunities to increase their standard of living. The first group identified some possibilities…if you are seriously interested in helping expanding on what they found, join the project team and apply for this opportunity.
