Social Media Strategy for Angela Nicole-Herbalife Health Coach

SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

Within the next week:

  • Make sure that all network profiles/bio’s are 100% complete
  • Conduct your first social media audit. Change what’s not working in growing your following. Think outside the box.

Weekly Practices:

  • Be actively looking for new people or businesses to follow or friend that will help broaden your network. Look to add at least 5 a week per account.
  • Research at least one business that could be considered your competition. How does their social media presence look compared to yours? What ideas can you get from them?
  • Keep your pages appealing and professional looking so they are informative to your viewers but not too cluttered or overwhelming.

The three areas of my client’s Twitter profile that we will be working on improving are:

  1. Maximize the use of all 160 characters in her Bio. Adding a personal hashtag, location, and website, while showing her personality (and maybe even adding some appropriate emoji’s)!
  2. Populate the media gallery so that her profile is more visually appealingĀ  for potential followers/customers.
  3. Use the curate list feature to keep your profile organized by groups. This will allow her viewers to pick from groups of information that may be relevant to what they’re looking for.

Client Project

I started the week thinking that I would be optimizing on my client’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, and creating a Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube page. Well once I started trying to set up the different accounts, I realized that my client already a LinkedIn and YouTube account that she had forgotten she had. Neither of them had much done on them so I was able to update the pictures, update the Bio information, and tie the usernames together so they would help with my clients overall branding.

I made same of the profile pictures the same so that if potential clients are looking for Angela’s accounts, they would recognize her by her photo. Some of the changes that we wanted to make on the Facebook page weren’t working correctly, so we know we will be needing to continue to “tweek” some things in the days and weeks to come on her Facebook account.

You Tube was difficult for me because I really didn’t understand how everything works since I’ve never really worked with You Tube before. My client isn’t very well versed in it either, so we will be continuing to work on developing her You Tube page. I was able to change her profile picture, updated and added in personal info, and added a secondary email as her primary.

One of the things my client said she wanted to work on was to make her email address the same throughout her social media accounts. I was able to get some of them changed over, but we ran into some difficulties being able to connect with each other in getting them all switched over. We will be working on getting this completed within the next week so that it’s easier for her to keep up with all her accounts.

At times, this project was difficult for me because I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to social media networks. I also found it difficult to not be in complete control of having the information I needed on hand to complete the tasks.I didn’t have the ability to get to confirmation emails or codes sent to her phone that I needed to move forward with the project. My client is a busy mom of three little ones and lives in Florida, so are schedules haven’t always lined up. I know it will get easier now that the accounts are set up and we can really start working on optimizing them.

The videos were able to keep my attention because they were full of information that was useful for me while I was getting the accounts set up. They also gave detailed reasoning on each network, how they differed from one another, and who and why you would want to use them. I plan to watch them again so that I can better understand the individual advantages and “know how’s” of each network, which will help me make the most of my clients pages moving forward!!

Social Media Networks

I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to all the different Social Media Networks out there, so I learned quite a bit this week while researching the many networks available today. I had never heard of HootSuite before this class, but I can see how it can be helpful in managing your social media accounts, especially if you have more than just one or two. There are many similarities to the various sites, but I discovered that they are each a bit unique in their own way. I am excited, yet nervous, to be able to explore social media more intensely throughout this semester, as well as getting more familiar with HootSuite, and am certain that I will be a lot more knowledgeable in the end then I was coming into it.

The client I chose to work with for my Client Project is Angela Nicole Rice. She became a distributor for HerbaLife about a year ago and has set a goal this year to be able to quite her full-time job and solely depend financially on her HerbaLife income. She is very passionate about what she does and the amazing success that she has had herself with using the project(she has currently lost 34 pounds on HerbaLife)!! She is fairly active on her Facebook Group page and Instagram, and also dabbles a bit with Snapchat. I think moving forward, we will work on making sure that she has social media outlets that primarily promote her business, where as now, her accounts are personal accounts and private. I believe that as she opens up her branding more for her business, she will see a major increase in her followers. I would like to work on refining the sites she already uses but also get her set up on LinkedIn and Twitter for sure! She seems really excited to see how this can elevate her in her business and I’m super excited to be working with her towards fulfilling her goals!!

My Personal Brand

Well it looks like I’ll have some work to do this semester to make my personal brand more up-to-date and interesting for future job prospects. There’s not much to report on, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in that I didn’t find anything incriminating or bogus.

Of course my Face Book page pulled up by searching my current name, but it also showed under my maiden name “Crawford” and my first married name “Dodge.”

I also found my current Pinterest page, which has not been updated in over 4 months, my Twitter account which hasn’t been used in well over 3 years, and LinkedIn which does not have a current picture or a completed profile.

I was also able to find information under my current name showing my birth date, past addresses, and my current city and state under https://www.peoplefinders.com/name/melissa-mccloud/mo.

Looks like I’ll be busy “branding”:))

My Top 5 Strengths!!

In doing the Clifton StrengthsFinder exercise my top 5 strengths are Belief, Achiever, Responsibility, Communication, and Developer. I wasn’t completely surprised by the outcome of this exercise. I can see myself in each of these 5 roles and I think they do a good job of defining who I am in my life and my career. I was surprised at some of the categories i thought would be on my top 5 that weren’t, such as Empathy, Positivity, and Harmony to name a few.

I believe that in some way, all of these characteristics can me helpful to me in this marketing class. I struggle a bit with navigating through the internet and Social Media sites, but the Achiever in me will figure it out and hopefully have it “mastered” by the end of the semester:) I have a strong Belief that I can do ANYTHING I set my mind to, and I also feel a strong Responsibility to always give my all and do my best! My Communication skills will help me feel confident in admitting when I don’t understand something and asking for help, and the Developer in me will do anything and everything I can to help others “get it” and succeed in the class, even if it means we’ll learn it together:)

As I continue to work towards my new career, I feel that my top 5 strengths will help me in many different ways. Similar to the reasons I gave in the last paragraph, I do have a strong desire to accomplish anything I set my sites on. Many of my friends, family, and colleagues would say that I am often an over Achiever and tend to be very hard on myself. I am a very determined person, and believe that even if I fail at something, I will get backĀ  up and try even harder until I get it right. I believe that effective communication is key in any and all relationships and that it is extremely beneficial to have in working as a team in the work place. I have always worked in some type of management position and in my last job, I was responsible for training other team members and new managers. It is important for me to see others succeed, especially if I’ve been responsible for their training and development. I strongly believe that if I continue to use my strengths in my career that I will be successful in all I do!!

Week 1- Introduction

My name is Melissa McCloud and I am in my second year as a full-time student at Johnson County Community College. I will be graduating in May with my Associate of Applied Science degree as an Administrative Professional. I am married to my best friend and we share six amazing children and a beautiful grandson.

I have spent most of my working career in retail management, so I am not a stranger to the importance that effective marketing can be to a business. I have worked for larger corporations where there has been a marketing department in charge of masterminding the marketing used and then I have been responsible for facilitating them in the store by using the tools chosen.

I only chose to take this course to fulfill the requirement for my degree, but I am looking forward to learning more about the many social media outlets that are available to me. I want to learn the how and why to best use these resources, and the benefit that the different networks can be to me both professionally and socially. This is only day one and I have already learned so much, so I’m excited to see what the next few weeks has to hold!!
